So. I think me and True Blood are officially breaking up.

It was fun while it lasted show, but all I ever wanted was to see Tara's emotional arc come full circle and while you completely fucked with her along the way I am willing to accept "Tara (with an adorable new haircut) leaves Bon Temps and never looks back" as the true end to the series. Because I just know you're eventually going to fuck that up and put my girl through the wringer again and fuck that.

Not to mention Sam's whole random backstory about that chick who fucked him over was so poorly done. Like... I am willing to accept some dark shit in Sam's past (and we already know about a good amount of it) but after awhile it becomes obvious that you're just adding shit to pull drama out of your ass. And yes, I realize that Sam didn't actually shoot Tommy or if he shot him it wasn't a fatal shot in the least, but fuck it.

And enough with Jason Stackhouse - SAVIOR OF ALL. He spent this whole entire season being annoying. His only redeeming moments were when he shot Franklin (though it should have been Tara who got to kill the sick fuck) and then confessed to fucking up and shooting Eggs. So 1/12 episodes was Jason genuinely likable - the rest? Bleh.

Sookie's fairy plot is stupid. The fairies are already the most annoying part of the show and they've rarely been in it.

I still don't care about Eric vs. Bill but I am so sick of it being drawn out over and over again. I wish Sookie would really just stay the hell away from the both of them. Also, I love Bill, but dude is so infuriating and manipulative. And Eric is 100x more interesting when he's not really hanging out with Sookie.

Arlene's baby plot never got wrapped up. I know they couldn't have her give birth, but why the fuck couldn't they have just let her miscarry? She's terrified and miserable and ugh. I know it would hurt Terry, but it ain't his fucking body or baby and that's that.

Jessica and Hoyt are cute, but neither of them interests me all that much so whatevs.

I have no idea what the hell the writers are doing with Lafayette, but I think dude has enough post traumatic stress to deal with without adding in crazy visions.

So it was a lackluster Season Finale with mostly annoying set up for next season. The only good part was Tara getting the fuck out of Bon Temps (and really, what does that say about the show in general?) after making her peace with her mom and Sookie. In my head Tara drives and drives and slowly begins to heal, but never forgets and she never looks back - not once.

I pretty much agree with all of your sentiments. I was really happy to see Sookie get rid of both of them, but we'll see how long that lasts =/. I'll probably give next season a chance but with the exception of Russell I felt most of this season was...meh.

I'm glad Sookie got rid of both of them too (but yeah, not gonna last), but I also hate her fairy subplot already. So like, not excited about Sookie's future plotlines at all.

Russell was really the most interesting thing about this season and the entire season was sort of lackluster in general (there were a few great/good eps) and that's... really troublesome for a show in it's third season. This season SHOULD have demolished the last one, but it just sort of... fell short.

I thought Tara's new hair was adorable, but I found myself not really caring about the rest of her plot or anyone else for that matter. Jason, Lafayette/Jesus, Sam, Arlene/Baby, the faeries, it's all just one big bowl of BLAH for me. I like Jessica/Hoyt, but I didn't care about their plot this episode either.

I ship Sookie/Eric, but I agree that the best thing for her is to just stay away from vamps in general for a while. Though, I have no hope that her banishment of Bill and all vamps will last that long. I'll bet she's back together with Bill halfway through next season (if it even takes that long) since they're "soulmates" or whatever. I loathe Bill which has made this show so hard to watch for me. I don't know why I put myself through it, LOL.

Awful ending to the finale as well. So, so very lame.

I did LOL at Eric showing up at the end covered in cement as though he'd just returned from a stroll in the park or something. Also laughed at Sookie sitting on the throne reading a magazine while she guarded Russel.

Tara's really the main thing I care about/watch True Blood for so her plot this season had me raging all over the place and I think her leaving Bon Temps is absolutely the best thing for her character. I mean, if I were super interested in continuing with True Blood I'd definitely want her back because... well I just have absolutely no interest in the series without her in it.

I dislike both Sookie/Eric and Sookie/Bill at this point, though my preference does lie with Sookie/Bill. Eric is just so much more interesting when he's not around Sookie IMO.

The finale wasn't the worst thing ever, but it was pretty lackluster and all the storylines it set up are storylines that I don't care about soooo... IDK. The end, I guess.

Also, even though it's not quite fair, I keep comparing it to Mad Men, which really just gets better and better as it goes along, whereas True Blood... has it's moments, but it lets me down a lot more.
