“What should we name her?” She asks as she gazes softly at the child in her arms. They stand on both sides of her, hovering near. Sora’s leaning dangerously close, staring at the small bundle with wide blue eyes.
“Breathe, Sora.” Riku says with a laugh while Kairi giggles. Sora smiles sheepishly and scratches the back of his neck.
“She’s just...so tiny.” He breathes, astonished and heavy. He grins mischieviously at Kairi. “You sure complained a lot over something so little, Kai.”
She glares at him.
“You jerk! I’d like to see you try squeezing out a seven pound bundle of joy, with a head as big as both her father’s combined, out of your vagina!” She seethes. Sora gags, while Riku takes Kairi’s hand.
“We know, Kai. You did great.” Riku whispers as he leans down to kiss her cheeks. She smiles warmly at him, while Sora pouts.
“What about me?” He complains. Kairi looks over at him, a twinkle in her eye.
“What?” She asks innocently.
“Don’t I get a kiss?”
“Maybe if you weren’t so mean to poor little Kai over here.” Riku teases as he wraps his arms around Kairi.
“Awww c’mon you guys! You know I was only kidding.” He pleads. Riku and Kairi exchange a look before Riku grabs onto Sora’s arms and pulls him towards them. Sora squeaks as Riku shoves him between the two of them and both plant big sloppy kisses on his cheeks. He groans jokingly and pulls away.
“You two are gross.” He complains, but there’s a smile on his face that won’t go away. Riku slips an arm around him and nibbles lightly on his ear.
“We could be a lot grosser.” He whispers to Sora.
“Hey, you two!” Kairi interrupts, they both guiltily look at their garnet haired beauty. “We have more important things to think about at the moment than your ‘needs’.” The two nod and walk back towards her, once again stopping on either side of the new mother. Sora bends down again and traces a finger down the baby’s hand.
“She looks just like you, Kai.” Riku mutters, kissing the top of her head. “Beautiful.”
Kairi blushes. Ten years with both of them and she still blushes with each compliment Riku gives her, still laughs everytime Sora says something stupid, still smiles when they hold her between them. Ten years. Once, long ago, they were seperated and broken and when they came home...they never wanted to part. A trio.
“Its obvious.” Sora says suddenly. The other two look at him, wondering what exactly was ‘obvious’.
“What are you talking about, Sora?” Riku asks. Sora flashes them both a reassuring smile (the one they’ve come to associate with him more than anything else - big and wide and comforting even when all hope is gone).
“Trinity.”
“Trinity?” Kairi repeats, not comprehending, “What are you talking about?”
“Her name!” Sora answers, like its the most obvious thing in the world. Riku and Kairi exchange a glance (which he has come to associate with them - worried and hesitant but ready for whatever may come). Then they nod and both of them smile at him. Riku leans forward to kiss his lips, while Kairi lays her head on his shoulder and Trinity lies between them all, small and fragile, but growing stronger with each second and Sora knows that this is where he was meant to be.
