‘Lucy’ is watching Arnold’s backside. I think this episode might secretly be an Arnold/Gerald episode.
ARNOLD, I DON’T THINK SHE GETS IT.
Finally, Arnold manages to catch on to the fact that Ruth thinks he’s a bus boy and not her date.
“Let me put it this way, you’re probably wondering who wrote that Valentine - about who ‘Anonymous’ really is.”
“Everyone knows who Anonymous is.”
“…whut?”
“Yeah, he’s like a famous poet.”
“…whut?”
“Sure, everytime we read a poem in school it’s always by that guy - Anonymous.”
“ O_O “
(we don’t actually get to see Arnold’s response to Ruth’s braniac response, but i’m sure it would be something like that)
Helga is still puking BTW.
Arnold’s like: “Okay, you aren’t the sharpest crayon in the box (lol, Bad Girls by Cynthia Voigt), but let’s chat.”
Ruth: “Okay, but when this Anonymous guy shows up you’re going to have to go.”
The waiter on the left! His face! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! He looks absolutely horrified by Helga.
Poor BB. ;_;
I fucking hate Jenny Stilleto too, Ruth.
It IS amazing, Arnold.
‘Lucy’ is worried that Arnold might be cutting things a bit too close.
BB, feel better! ;_;
Oh shit.
‘Lucy’: “Oh shit.”
Arnold, dashes back to Chez Paris and ‘Lucy’ gives him a hand.
DON’T FORGET TO PURR. D:<
Oh no! She’s going to leave!
She has a really broken little expression a second before the first picture, but I didn’t get a cap of it. My heart broke though.
Arnold saves the day! With a little help from his sweet ‘Lucy’.
Helga-as-Cecile: “I thought you’d left…”
Arnold: “Um, no.”
And then Helga’s True Love starts playing! I think it’s probably the third one, but gah - so pretty! I love the violin.
Helga: “Is something wrong, Arnold?”
Arnold: “No, nothing. It’s just that… Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you think you like a person from far away and you find out they’re not what you thought they were when you get up close?”
Helga: “Well, what do you mean?”
Arnold: “Well, there was this girl I thought I liked, but then it turned out that when I got to know her we had nothing in common.”
Helga: “Well, maybe she’s not the girl for you. Maybe the girl for you is someone you didn’t expect. After all the most beautiful gift can come in the plainest box.”
Arnold: “Y’know, I think you’re right.”
…
BRB SOBBING ;_;
Ruth is getting hit on by that waiter from earlier and Arnold doesn’t care (neither do I so NO CAPS).
Helga, really likes him and she needs to know - do you like her too, Arnold?
The music! Their hands!
So. Close.
In fact:
Love! She is in it!
OMG JUST KISS HER.
(i swear to god all of these pictures are different from one another)
One more excuse and then he’ll be right back. He wuvs her too!
Helga’s hair is like…super pretty in that second picture.
Oh, and I forgot mention the one thing I LOVE about this ep. Helga gets prettier the sicker/dirtier/ickier she is. Really, she’s GORGEOUS here, with her hair all down and the fakey curves all gone.
It’s one of my favorite little canon things - the more wrecked Helga gets the prettier she becomes. :3
I couldn’t get a good cap of this little scene. I don’t think Ruth is really holding out for ‘Anonymous’ anymore.
Have some Ruth/Busboy spam! Also, HER EYES D:
And I love that the older kid’s conversation revolves around breadsticks, hair and gum when the younger kids were talking about love and unexpected happiness and just… Arnold’s class is too smart for their own good.
Looks like his gal is leaving with another man.
Luckily, he’s got a new lady.
Who is the prettiest lady in the world BTW.
…
Shit.
Also, the scene gets all diagonal to add ~drama~. I love it.
:\
Helga-as-Cecile: “What. The. Fuck.”
Arnold: “I CAN EXPLAIN. D: “
Helga-as-Cecile: “If there’s one thing I can’t stand -”
“-it’s someone not being completely honest -”
“-about who they are.”
Real Cecile: “Sup?”
Arnold: “Who the hell are you?”
Real Cecile: “I am Cecile.”
Helga-as-Cecile: “O_O”
Real Cecile: “You don’t recognize me from that photo I sent you? Are you blind?”
Arnold: “Uh, but she’s Cecile. :\ “
Helga-as-Cecile: “I am a leaf on the wind.”
Real Cecile: “What the hell?”
Arnold: “ :C “
Gerald saves the day!
Gerald: “Hi, I’m Arnold, but you should call me Lucy. I like that. You wanna go eat greasy American food?”
Real Cecile: “;_; That’s all I ever wanted.”
…awkward.
Also, Helga’s True Love 4 starts up right here and it’s so damn pretty.
Listen!
Arnold: “There’s one thing I still don’t understand…. Who are you?”
But she can’t tell him, because Helga is complicated.
Arnold: “Why not?”
Helga-as-Cecile: “I just can’t, that’s all. Okay?”
But she wishes she could. ;_;
It’s not your fault, Arnold. She just isn’t brave enough. She’s scared that you’ll hate her or reject her or that everyone in the whole world will find out and suddenly she’ll be showing her vulnerability and she doesn’t know how to deal with that. But she loves you. She does.
Arnold: “Will I see you again?”
Helga-as-Cecile: “Oh, probably.”
He tells her it’s been the best Valentine’s Day ever and she agrees before taking her leave.
Arnold: “Well, we’ll always have Chez Paris.”
And then he kisses her hand! And she lets out this little happy sigh (Helga is the queen of lovesick sighs).
Oh god, they are too cute!
Helga-as-Cecile: “Au revoir, Arnold.”
And then poor Helga is left to figure out who Arnold really likes. Her or Cecile or her-Cecile or a little of both or what the fuck?
Personally, I'd say that it's her that he likes. But he likes her when her walls are down, when it's vulnerable, tiny Helga. Which is a problem for them in the long run, because I honestly believe that Helga's bluster and cruel side is a big part of who she really is. She isn't just a sweet little girl like Lila is - she's got bite.
And all he has to remember her by is one red shoe.
The end!
a/n: Once again, all of these images are fine to use for any sort of icons/graphics/etc. This isn't as funny as the last one, because this is all the gushy emotional stuff and I COULD NOT MOCK THAT.
I hope you enjoy it!
Also, this is the song that I used for the song lyrics in each LJ-cut:

Date: 2009-02-16 01:12 am (UTC)Man, poor vulnerable pukey Helga makes me remember that she's nine, and I want to cuddle her and put her to bed. Poor little thing.
In the cap of Helga poking Arnold's nose, I actually said "BONK" out loud. I COULDN'T HELP IT.
The cap of Arnold picking up the shoe is HILARIOUS. He looks so angry! "I WILL KILL YOU, SHOE. YOU AND EVERYONE YOU'VE EVER LOVED. HOW DARE YOU BE RED AND TOTALLY COOL FOR 1997."
But she can’t tell him, because Helga is complicated.
YES. Oh, baby girl.
And then, dude, YOU MADE ME CRY. DAMN YOU.
Personally, I'd say that it's her that he likes. But he likes her when her walls are down, when it's vulnerable, tiny Helga. But Arnold also has a tendency to idolize girls/women without really knowing them (see also: Ruth, Summer, that one teacher he had a crush on). Ruth and Summer turned out dumber and eviller, respectively, than he thought they would, whereas I think Lila is basically what she appears to be, but also recall Arnold's eccentric upbringing and his first-season fantasies. His crush on Lila has only persisted because she's unattainable - he didn't like her at all when she liked him. Sweet and basically boring is not going to interest him for long. Helga, on the other hand, is never boring.
God, I love this show.

Date: 2009-02-16 02:32 am (UTC)Damn, is Ruth ever dense...but then again, so is Arnold. Huh, maybe they DO deserve each other.
Cecile comes up at just the right moment, ahaha. Ohhh, hypocrisy and irony works so perfectly in that scene~
Helga-as-Cecile: “I am a leaf on the wind.” LMAO!
Just as Helga was destined to be babe, Gerald was destined to be pimp. ;_;
And I've been listening "Helga's True Love 4" for almost an hour now so...yeah. That's an remarkably addictive song.

Date: 2009-02-16 03:55 am (UTC)She's gorgeous in this episode. She suffers from some cyclopsy moments, but for the most part the look really suits her.
I'll probably try capping another ep sometime in the future. Definitely I'll try to do the Christmas Special next year.

Haha, she really does show up at the perfect moment.
This is why I ship Helga/Gerald - they would look so hot together.
It is! Some of the Hey Arnold! songs are so unbelievably beautiful.

Hahahaha!
I love both of their faces as they contemplate the shoe. Arnold is so angry and Helga looks kind of nervous. I wonder what the shoe has done to deserve such responses?
<3333333 I cried too! These two break my heart and fill me with glee all at the same time.

Yes to all of that! Though, I've always imagined he'd first have to get over this 'perfect girl' idea that he seems to have. Like, I think there'd be a strain for Arnold at some point, because Helga is flawed and he's looking for something perfect? But eventually he'd come to understand that he loves her BECAUSE she is flawed and human and mean and passionate all rolled into one.
Me too! This show is basically my childhood.

THEIR HANDS I KNOW OMG SO CLOSE OH GOSH!
I actually remember the exact moment when I got that joke. I was reading a book of poems and suddenly it just CLICKED as to what Anonymous really meant. And then I was like: "OH GOD SO MUCH SENSE HAS BEEN MADE NOW!"
But the feeling of knowing there was a joke without really understanding the joke is how I was with the whole Jolie Chien Salon.

I've also got Pigeon Man's Theme that I know I found outside of those links. The quality isn't the greatest thing ever, but I love the theme.
I'd love to get "Haunted Train" and "Look Up" if you have 'em. I have "Simple Things" though. I'm also not sure if it came with those links or not, but I have "Smashed" by Dino Spumoni.

"Smashed" was on the zip, but I would adore Pigeon Man's Theme. I haven't even seen that episode in years and I remember it being lovely.
