Journal - "Twitter"

So. I got a twitter.

I am... kind of unsure of what to do with it. Like, I get the premise of a twitter, but I am long winded and do not want to be contained, but the site design is cute as hell and I like signing up for new things even if I don't end up using them. Also, I think it'd be kind of neat to merge RL twitter...people with fandom twitter...ers. Not that they have to interact, but it'd be kind of neat (and also terrifying) to talk to people from both subcategories of my life at the same time.

Maybe.

IDK. I don't see me getting into it, but I could be proven wrong and I guess if people talk to me I can talk to them back or whatever, right?

Anyway.

ps for those who do tweet - do you keep your page set to only allow people you already know to follow you or what?

I set my page to only allow my followers to read it -- only because I got sick of the random followers I got. I always got these bots/spammers trying to follow me. One time I went from...14 followers to 104, in a span of minutes. I had to block all of them. So far I hadn't had any problems, but we'll see.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I also set it to private because I started talking about my personal life, and there's certain things I don't want people from real life reading in the twitter posts to my journal.

I'll see how it goes for now, I guess. If the spam/bots get out of hand I'll change the settings. Twitter reminds me of myspace in it's 'friend everyone' mentality and I really disliked myspace.

Also, I leave mine open because what I say isn't really private or anything, and just block people I don't want stalking me. I got it to follow a few friends, and now I mainly use it to follow the writers and actors of my favorite show (Leverage ♥) because the crew is awesome and will sometimes leave little pictures and fun facts and such.

I... update about my road rage and TV shows and that's pretty much it. But it's handy to keep around.

Oh yeah, that is the nifty thing about twitter, getting behind the scenes stuff. I'm thinking about following the creator of iCarly for that purpose.

Haha, yeah it seems like it could come in handy to have and I like signing up for new sites. So I dunno if I'll use it too much, but at least the option is there now.

My page is public as I'm not really worried about sharing information on there. There are a lot of spambots but if you ignore them twitter will nuke them eventually. Also, if one follows me that actually interacts with me I just block it. :3

I find Twitter a nice way of blogging things when I'd rather not make an entire LJ post about it. It also helps me keep tabs on what's been happening for when I do post to LJ.

I can't imagine really saying anything on twitter that shouldn't be shared so I plan to leave it open for now. If I find that the bots or whatever get too crazy I'll change it up, but for now I don't plan on hiding anything.

Twitter's cool, I was pretty sure I'd forget about mine after the first week as well lol. If you're random at all it's great for little things that pop out of the top of your head xD Or there's the whole keeping up with your favorite celebs angle.

Hrmm I've a few friends who keep theirs friends-only and swear by it, but I don't bother personally ^^; Nothing much to hide I guess.

I don't have my twitter set to friends-only or whatever they call it, but then I've never had a stranger follow me before either, except spambots. I just block the spambots.

I just got it to follow the Questionable Content characters. (Though I added Jeph, Warren Ellis, and Mike Doughty).

I've not written a tweet, but I'd been playing around with the idea of writing self contained short stories that fit the character limit. But been too indifferent and busy.
