So, I might have made an anonymous kink meme for the Sims....

I'll give you guys the link to the comm soon enough and ask you to PIMP IT OUT, but for now I just need input.

What should I allow as far as what kind of sims should be allowed? Because the problem is that you can make ANYONE with the sims and so you venture into RPF and even weirder than Sim celebrity RPF would be the inevitable Sim player RPF. I don't mind RPF even if it ain't my thing, but it seems like it could get REALLY wanky REALLY fast if we start bringing in internet personas and that sort of thing. And wank in a porn meme is upsetting.

So I'm thinking about saying no RPF Sims at all, but am worried about the backlash that might cause. But not REALLY worried. It's just like... I can see the inevitable wank storm it might bring, but I think it'd be good for the Sims comm to hear 'no' or even just "I am sad for you but thems the breaks."

I also thought about just limiting it to premades, but that's no fun! People definitely have ships from other's legacies or their own or even from somebody else's story and I think it'd be neat to have that option available.

I AM SO CONFLICTED.

My line would be "sim characters" only. By that I would mean premade characters but also characters created in/for legacies and sim stories. It would be hard to write porn about a sim who is "just a sim" for download, so they'd have to be in a story or legacy somewhere, I think. If it's just in your own game or on a download site how would anyone know enough to write about them?

Also, maybe not just any character-made-sim either. Like I've seen people recreating the characters from Death Note, etc. That would be porn about Death Note characters who you happened to make into sims, and not sim characters at all.

But yeah... hard to enforce. I would assume that anyone making prompts like that would just get ignored anyway. I also can't see anyone using simselves for this. But who the hell knows? There are a lot of crazy people in the comm, and making it anonymous would only up that tenfold.

I seriously wonder how much participation you'd get for this. I think it'd be fun to find out.

I think it'll be neat to see how the Sims comm holds up as just writers and smut writers at that. Generally no one seems to go that far in Simfic (though I haven't read heaps of Simfic either). Lots of implied smut and 'fade to black'. Probably because they'd feel the need to provide the visual maybe and it's venturing into a place they aren't sure of?

I've never actually written straight up smut, so I'll be dipping my own feet into some murky waters for the first time. Sounds fun!

So far what I've got is that you CAN request for Sims you've made, but aren't available on the web or don't even have a backstory, but I can't imagine people actually filling requests like that, because there's nothing to go on. Limiting it to 'Sim characters' would probably work better. They have to be Sims with history and backstory and people have a source to glean information from. I should also make it a rule/strong recommendation that anytime you request a pairing that isn't a premade sim pairing you provide a link to the source.

Ah! I did not think about the character sims either, but I definitely agree. If you want Death Note smut, just go find THEIR kink meme.

I can definitely see people going POPULAR LEGACY PLAYERS SIMSELF/OTHER POPULAR LEGACY PLAYERS SIMSELF just for the fun of it. Which, honestly seems like harmless fun, but not everyone would be down with being pseudo-written about? I just think it might escalate into something that I don't particularly want to deal with. I want to PORN not DRAMA dammit!

I think I could get a damn lot if I can get people to pimp it. I think it'd be awesome to watch and participate in it. I even made a separate account as the maintainer so that if it gets TOO BIG TOO FAST I can disable email notifications. (I probably should do that now actually....)

I've never joined a kink meme, so I'm an absolutely n00b regarding them.

Are they only for porn? I mean, I'd love to participate and write for it, but I'm not good at "spicy" scenes at all. I prefer fluff and emotional stuff, perhaps because that's what I'm good at :P.

Anyway, I think you should only go for Sims characters for the meme. As in premade characters and maybe sims from other legacies (i.e. developed personalities/backstory).

Yeah, I think that including sims from other fandoms would not follow the original intent of the meme, and if you've ever been to More Awesome Than You, there's an ongoing story called "Awesomeland" (featuring the members of said forum) and the wank there is epic.

One last question, considering this is a sims meme: Do you need to include pictures with the prompts? Or is it OK to just use text?

You know I walk a line on the edge of smut at times. I do use the "fade to black" method because it just doesn't seem appropriate to go into specific details in a story like mine unless there's a really good reason (like the Ripp/Ophelia scene - it was more descriptive than usual, but I had a purpose there).

But yeah... it'd be easy for me to go there. So easy. I think I'm actually a *ahem* "writer of erotica" at heart. (And I actually read quite a bit of it, if I'm being completely honest.)

I see no harm in letting people request for their own sims that aren't out there in sims stories. It'd be a little sad to see them ignored, but that's the risk you run by submitting them. They really should be encouraged to provide a link.

The simself thing... Heheh. If simsecret is any indication, there would be some of those, for sure, and maybe some Pescado kink requests. I bet those would get filled too. XD But yeah, the problem with real people is like you said... not everyone would want it. I think it would be wise to keep that out.

I'm curious about that too. I think emotional stuff, if it's somehow erotic in some way, should be okay, right? (Help me out here, Alyssa?) I don't think it has to be completely hardcore or anything, but the name "kink" meme gives a certain impression. I think it's just meant in the sense of "satisfy this kink of mine..." which could also be just a purely fluffy romantic scene.

Am I right?

Also, including pictures could be very cool and unique for this sort of thing, I think. Maybe it could be optional? Personally, I would feel that it would give me away (and I'd know your work too, for that matter), so I might not use images. Then again, some people would recognize my writing too, so maybe it doesn't matter.

I don't mind the 'fade to black' at all. And I think you walk a sexy, sexy balance. Your racy stuff is great, but I also think sometimes the sexiest things you write are when everyone's got their clothes on, but there's still a lot of intimacy and tension and I am so clearly thinking of JRO that it's not even funny.

I'm kind of weird about smut! I've always been kind of intrigued by the idea of writing it, but I'd be HORRIBLY embarrassed if anyone I ever knew found out about it. And I'm afraid I'd be really bad at it too! I'm also kind of a prude, but not really at all? I DON'T KNOW.

Here's my WHAT QUALIFIES AS A SIM ANYWAY? bit:



1) Any premade Sim from The Sims 1-3 may be used in a pairing at any time. They are the Sims ‘canon’ and definitely all right to use. (ex. Ripp Grunt, Bella Goth, Puck Summerdream, Etc.)

2) Any pairing that uses a Sim who is NOT an premade Sim must have a source of backstory/information on said Sim. The Sim’s background/personality doesn’t have to be super detailed or well documented, but you can’t just plunk down a picture of a CAS sim you made and say: “WRITE THIS PLEASE.”

Also, I would suggest linking to the background/info/story for the Sim you choose. Especially if it’s from something obscure that not a lot of people have read.

3) You MAY use Sims from legacies, sim stories, etc. Basically any Sim is fine as long as they have some sort of basis and previous existence outside of the kink meme. It doesn’t have to be your own legacy/story/whatever either.

4) You may NOT use:
a) Anyone’s simself (No popular legacy player’s simself/other popular legacy player’s simself or anything like it.)
b) Sims based on real people (If you like RPF, go find an RPF kink meme!)
c) Sims based on fictional people (No Naruto Sims/Hey Arnold! Sims/Final Fantasy Sims/Etc. There are probably kink memes dedicated to those fandoms anyway.)


Yeah, if someone wants to make a SimsBNF_anon or something where people write smut about sims players than I am not going to stop them or even give a damn, but for this kink meme that I am creating, I don't want the drama that might go along with that. Especially if someone requested something really creepy and terrible like rape fic using people's simselves or something like that. I just... DO NOT WANT to deal with it.

I have never been involved in one, but I've definitely read through some. I rifled through a Kingdom Heart's one for Riku/Sora/Kairi and Squall/Yuffie, but found very little and a damn lot of predictable slash and it was sad. ;_;

I'm going to be pretty open about kinks and say that just about anything can go. It doesn't have to be 'sexy' or explicit. If someone has a craving for "Johnny, Tank, Ripp, Buck, Frances, Ophelia, and Jill / FALLING ASLEEP IN A BIG PILE LIKE ADORABLE KITTENS" I am going to totally allow it. Sometimes we just NEED adorable things.

That's definitely what I'm going with I believe. Sims based on real people just leads down a BAD ROAD I think. And I want to be totally up front about it and let people know that it won't be acceptable, end of discussion.

I've never really tried my hand at writing full-on smut either, but I've definitely worked out a couple of scenes in my head before. I often do have an idea of "what went on" even when I don't write it out.

Back to JRO as an example, I used a very literal "fade to black" during their final night in the cabin in the last chapter, with the boys both nuzzling into her. I have an idea of what actually happened there, but all I revealed is in Ophelia's comment that they "haven't all been together... not really."

A kink meme would be very freeing to experiment with writing smut. Like everyone else, the shroud of anonymity would help free me up to try it. I'm sure it's a good writing experience, becaus eit's hard to make it sound good, not cliched, and not silly/funny. Leave your throbbing manhoods at home, people!

I like your guidelines. They sound clear and reasonable. I will offer to help you mod the comm, if you need it, okay? You will likely need some help if it gets going. But again... I have no idea if it would take off.

The wank seems likely, though. With simsecret as it is, I can easily see people flying off the handle over things like non-con or incest (considering that some people consider sim 8th cousins to be squick inducing... yeah, haHAH... people could get easily offended).

The thing that people need to realize is that something like this is there purely for the people that want it. With requests in place, it should be easy for them to avoid things they don't want to read, unless they're just so morbidly curious that they can't resist, and that's their own fault.

(Oh man. I just tried to think of an example of something I wouldn't read, but then it turned into something I will probably request... so many ideas out there.)

I've just read the list you posted above and now I'm really interested in participating. I like how it takes in consideration much more than just "lemon" scenes (mine are often awkward, but then again, maybe the anonymity will free me from my inhibitions as a writer).

Yeah, I think that the RPF road would eventually hurt people. Some people in the Sims community love to be mean and insult people just for the sake of it (something I don't understand, to be honest), and this is supposed to be fun, am I right?

I'll keep the picture limit in mind and that sounds good too!. Strange is right, though. I'll have to be "creative" with my CC usage or people will figure out it's me in no time (i.e. no freckles! :P).

For me, it's much more enjoyable to write and read about what happens before and after "the action" than the event itself. Maybe it's my experience reading bad fanfic a few years ago, but there was a point in which I could recite how would every sex scene develop in any story... I dunno, the descriptions are often too mechanical, lacking emotions.

As the people of MATY would say, I'm such a silly F-ly individual (from the Myers-Brigs test, I'm a "feeling" person instead of a "judging" one).

Hee, it's been awhile since I've seen someone use the word 'lemon'! And 'lime' was used to describe sexy stuff that wasn't quite smut, right?

I still haven't read through the whole list, but there's definitely some awesome stuff in there, along with some kind of creepy stuff. And I'm a pretty lenient person, so basically kink for me is going to be defined by like: "A fic idea that gets in your head and makes you go I NEED." Not necessarily smutty, but that satisfies some sort of craving the original requester had.

Basically, if someone wants to make an RPF Sim kink meme, they can go ahead and make one. I just don't want it in mine, because I don't feel like dealing with egos and people being assholes to one another. I just want this to be fun!

I agree with your definition of kink. Earlier I was in the mood for a fluffy, ridiculous fanfic or story (must be PSM) and I couldn't find it anywhere. I'm glad there's now a community where I'll be able to request that kind of stuff too :).

I agree with you there. That's why I'm usually more than happy with the "fade to black" technique. It also leaves it open for the reader to interpret.

I think the challenge of writing a sex scene would be in not having it sound mechanical or unrealistic or completely silly, and I know that's a worthy challenge. I've read examples of good erotic stories, but I've also read some bad Harlequin romance too (as a young, impressionable preteen, sneaking a look at my mother's collection). It's easy to write this stuff badly, but it can be done well. I think a lot should be said for keeping a sense of humour in it too.

I'm glad we've made it clear that kinks do not have to be explicitly sexual. I would consider requests for something really emotional and angsty to be a kink too, and it's something that people would seek out.

Yeah, and not just the freckles. I would consider (for myself) using a whole new set of defaults if I was going to do images. I'm not sure if I will, but it might be fun to try. I know someone started up a straight up "sexy sim stories" community a while back, that was meant to be for more adult sim stories, but it never took off.

I mean, we're doing this for the fun of it. Just to be silly and have something sexy to read. And I think the rules are pretty lenient and all that. So I can't imagine them having anything not entirely misguided and stupid to say.

Also! Simsecret is basically the reason that I really wanted to establish the 'what sims are allowed rule', because of how unclear the mods there can be at times and how they ended up running into problems they hadn't originally thought of.
