I'm excited for it. Even though I'm not getting it. And it probably won't run on my mac anyway.

I'll probably end up playing it on my sister's comp at some point though. I'm hoping to steer her away from playing the Goths/Bella's family, because OH MAN MY OTP OH MAN.

It looks cute! And fun! And different, but in ways that aren't that terrible! Also, I don't give a shit about the rivalry between TS2 and TS3, because it's just stupid. They're games. Games that you play for fun.

I hope they fix that story progression thing though, because if I do ever get it, I'd like to be able to toggle that shit off. I don't mind if Sims are walking around and making friends, but I don't like that they can marry and cheat and have babies and I HAVE NO CONTROL.

Um, Mortimer is still the MOST ADORABLE THING EVER. And I've been sort of quietly building up this deep love of Bella and her story and how she is so NORMAL, but then she disappears in TS2 and becomes something ethereal. And I've been having all sorts of thinky thoughts about her and Mortimer and if they were truly in love and what happened really?

For me, Bella did love him. But it's also this weird sort of relationship that she's been in since childhood and basically at some point she wakes up and thinks: 'where did my life go?' because she's never been Just Bella. She grew up with Mortimer and one day he kissed her and then they were together and he was brilliant and she was average and he loved her despite that. And he proposed and they were married and she had Cassandra when she was young, I'm sure of it. And so now she's a mother and she'd never really pictured herself as one, but she's okay with that, except not at all and Mortimer is still brilliant and the town needs him and no one needs Bella. She's just there to be pretty, like scenery and she can't remember what she wanted to be when she was little, but it's too late anyway, because now she's a mother even though she isn't sure that's what she ever wanted to be.

Basically, I think Bella got swept along in Mortimer's life and never took time to step back and say: "What about me? Do I even love him? Or do am I with him, because I always have been? And is this the life that I really want to be living?".

And uhhh, basically I want someone to write me a reunion fic with Mortimer going out to find her one last time and somehow becoming younger again (like Bella in Strangetown) and she falls in love with him even though she doesn't remember him, so we know that she loves him for him and not just because. And uhhh, I don't know. I just love them and poking at their story.

Haha, somehow my Sims 3 post turned into OMG BELLA/MORTIMER FOREVER!

IN CONCLUSION:

1) If anyone wants to hit me up with Bella/Mortimer references from either TS2 or TS3, I would not object. I like it best when they don't have Maxis-y skins, because overlays or whatever y'know... alter their appearances.

2) I would also love to one day find a story about Kaylynn and Mortimer discussing Bella's disappearance and their childhood together and love and growing up and any variations on that.

3) Creating a Sims_anon kink meme community is a terrible idea, right? RIGHT?


ETA: MORTIMER ICON! The keywords/comments are lyrics to Billy Joel's 'Angry Young Man', which is actually a song that I also relate to Arnold. But anyway, I love Morty and Billy Joel and my new icon!

Your Bella/Morty story made me SO SAD. Because it's sounds SO GOOD AND SO TRUE! I love that you are so perceptive and read between the lines and all that deliciousness.

The only problem I have is that Kaylynn is NOT old. She's like 24 in Pleasantview, yet she's older than Morty and Bella in Sunset Valley. IDK.

Oh man, it makes me sad TOOOOOO. But in a good way! Because I do think she loves him for reals, but that she's kind of lost sight of WHY and I want to give them to get the chance to figure it out.

I also think Bella knew exactly what she was doing when she went to Don's house, but the longer she was there the more she regretted so that when he finally put the moves on her she pushed him away.

I've always loved the little Bella references. How she becomes an icon of beauty and perfection when she disappears. She has art made in her image! There's a town named after her! But, y'know, she's a REAL woman who disappeared and not just some pop culture idol.

Haha, yeah I know the timeline is all screwy and I'm pretty okay with that. I figure the weird age problems might be caused by Mortimer's Elixer of Life. And isn't Bella really young when you rope her into a house in Strangetown? So like, there's always been some screwiness when it comes to characters aging properly.

OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT. I work in the afternoon so it'll be nice to come back to that. :D

I probably won't get to play my sister's at all tomorrow because she is SOOOOOO serious business about it.

MMM, I love that you said that. A lot of Sims see her as this wonderfully mysterious gorgeous thing and forget that she really was a person.

Yeah, in Strangetown she's like at the maximum age- 27 days until elder.

Haha, it's a major fictional kink for me (not a kink in the sexy way, but in a: 'if you're story has something like this in it I will read it and love it FUCK YEAH'). I like stories where people finally WAKE UP and go: "Oh, something is wrong." It kills me.

I still don't know if I actually have a real opinion on what happened to Bella. I mean, I guess I think she got abducted. Or maybe she fled after leaving Don's house. I do think the Strangetown Bella is the real one though.

I keep trying to find RL pop culture icons to sort of relate her too. She's not really a Marilyn Monroe. Bella wasn't famous until after she disappeared (I think?). I'd say maybe the Black Dahlia, but that's kind of gruesome. IDK, I feel like there's an obvious connection between Bella and some one IRL, but it's totally going over my head if there is one.

Yeah, I'm down with the wonky ages, because I think it's possible to come up with an explanation for it that isn't really all that implausible within the Sims universe.

I think I would relate her to Amelia Earhart- FIERCE as hell and vanished without a trace. I love Amelia Earhart.

I feel bad for them, but it's a good kind of sadness. It's heartbreaking, but I still can't help loving it.

Oooooo! I like that! I can definitely see the correlations between Bella and Amelia Earhart. Although I don't think they get the same kind of idolization. Bella becomes this hyper sexualized, ethereal 'perfect woman' figure and I don't think Earhart is generally seen in that sort of light.

I am soooo excited for TS3! But I doubt if I'll be playing any of the premades... at least for a while. :D Got my Curiouses and possibly the Grunts to manufacture and place in the world, lol!

I actually kind of like the story progression feature. Well, I say that now... it might irritate me after a while, but I think it'll be cool to see what the game comes up with on its own when I'm not looking! :D

I don't really care about the premades outside of Bella/Mortimer/Kaylynn. But those three and the adventures and rivalries they might get into are really tugging at me.

I am too much of a control freak to like it. Well, I wouldn't mind if we could pick and choose which families advanced without us, but I don't like that I'll be playing a family and THE WHOLE WORLD WILL BE ADVANCING WHILE I PLAY. D:

I got my copy yesterday, it's a lot of fun.

Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about your sister playing the Goths or Bella's house, you can only control one house in a neighborhood in Sims 3, but you can start multiple games running (that have nothing to do with each other).

The saved games are by neighborhood, not by house. You can make a custom family, but that is the only house you get to play in that neighborhood, if you want to play a different family, you lose control of the original family. BUT, you can save your game, start a new game and choose another family to play, but it would be like playing Pleasant view, and then starting a game in Strangetown. The houses you play/create will never interact.

Okay, so every single household you play opens up a fresh, new neighborhood? Like, if I played the Goths and then wanted to switch over to the Bachelors the game would have to create a completely new neighborhood?

Oh wait, I just lose control of the Goths? Can we get control back?

You can start a new neighborhood, or you can switch back and forth... but by switching, you lose all wishes and progress in certain situations.

I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT MAKING A COMM. I have NEEDS. JRO needs and Bella/Mortimer needs and SENSATIONAL SEVEN ORGY needs!

The only problem is that nothing in my history of being in the sims fandom has really given me good reason to believe that it won't turn into some ridiculously stupid drama. But OH MAN it would be awesome!

Lol, I actually did start a fic! But it isn't JRO fic! It's Tank and Johnny and narrow paths and living legacies and finding common ground.

Haha, how about a purely EMOTIONAL NOT SEXUAL orgy. With like bonding. And fist bumps. And Frances and Buck baking cookies while Jill teaches Beau how to shoot a gun, while Tank looks on - rightfully concerned. A-and then in the back is just JRO snuggling and being adorable.

I love Johnny and Tank's rivalry and how it defines them and how Ripp fucks things up by befriending Johnny. And I like to think that Tank is affected by Johnny. Maybe not in a sexual way at all, but Johnny gets under his skin and makes it impossible for Tank to just ignore him like he would any one else.

I think they both have to deal with First Born Son issues and expectations. (As well as in-game family nonsense). I love PT in all his incarnations (I have SO many of him running about in various hoods) but you've gotta wonder about what being his kid must be like. You've got 2 older sisters that are older than your mom, and hey! They're her sisters, too. And then there's mom who married an alien after your grandfather left his first wife with his spawn after his abduction, and oh, look, it's the same alien. And so on...

It's easy to see how Johnny just screws with his world view. Tank just needs love. My poor woobie...

Oh, I have no doubt that Beau + gun = CHAOS. I imagine soon after this escapade Tank will steal the gun and hide it away where Beau could NEVER EVER find it.

Yeah, the Smith family is totally whacky. And I agree that both Johnny and Tank are both basically having to live as their fathers would. They've even inherited their rivalry. I'd really like to see them come to terms with one another. They don't have to be friends or even like each other, but I'd like to think they can respect one another and put the Smith-Grunt feud to rest completely.

The Goths have always been my obsession too when it comes to the Sims, specifically the whole Mort/Bella and Cassandra/Don slant. They have the most interesting story out of all the sims, at least for me.

I've always loved them and I played them a damn lot in TS1. I don't play them as much in TS2 because they're all so broken. Mortimer's old and Cass is old enough to move out and Bella is just GONE and it kind of breaks my heart.
