Meme - Top Five and Icons!

5) Voldemort (Harry Potter) - He was menacing and scary and it was very satisfying when Harry beat him.
4) Father (Codename: Kids Next Door) - He got to be developed despite being little more than an eerie, firey glowy thing.
3) Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII) - He’s regarded as THE villain of Final Fantasy, that’s pretty badass if you ask me.
2) Ursula (The Little Mermaid) - She’s slinky and sexy and I both fear her and want to be her and because she’s based on Divine.
1) Azula (Avatar: the Last Airbender) - Because I can understand her motives. Because I can identify with her and fear her at the same time. Because she is heartwrenchingly human.
Top Five Hey Arnold! Episodes

Notes: I wasn’t sure whether to interpret this as my favorite episodes or best episodes overall. I went with favorites, because it would take a lot of thought for me to pick out the five best HA! episodes.
5) Married - I love their different views of what it would be like to be married to one another. Also, despite the awesomeness of Helga’s dream, I’ve always been strangely attached to Arnold’s dream. Probably because it’s really them as they are. Pushing and pulling and he doesn’t back down from her, but pushes through all her defenses.
4) Arnold’s Valentine - Best Valentine’s special ever. I love the jokes and the message of this one and I still hold my breath every time he leans across the table, because I just want him to KISS HER.
3) Egg Story - A double shot of OTP. I love Harold and Rhonda’s banter in the beginning and Helga’s attempt to be nice. I love how Arnold’s the asshole in this one, but it’s really just in anticipation of Helga being a jerk. I love Courtney and the Paggliacci theme. <333
2) Buses, Bikes and Subways - This episode is just FUN. Helga and Harold bounce really well off of one another and I love the little moment where he’s like: “OMG YOU SAVED ME I THINK I LOVE YOU!” and she’s like: “FUCK OFF YOU IDIOT!”
1) The Flood - I just love the idea of the kids being stuck in the school. I love the panic throughout the episode. I love that they have to work together to save the day. I love when they go all tribal in the art supplies room. I love the moment when Helga calls for Arnold and he gets this terrible, stricken look on his face like losing her would kill him.

01. Comment to this entry saying 'ICONS!' and I will pick 6 of your icons.
02. Make an entry in your own journal and talk about the icons I picked!
Fox and the Hound is a really adorable movie. It used to break my heart when I was younger. That song that plays when the old lady leaves Tod? ;_____; Anyway, the keywords are lyrics from Round Here, by the Counting Crows (specifically the one from their Across a Wire disk that is TEN MINUTES LONG AND ALSO AWESOME). I loved the prettiness of this icon and that moment in the movie is awesome. Copper protects Tod after he risked his life to save the day. It’s all friendship and loyalty and ‘I’m not going to let anything touch you.’
Lyrics from Slow Graffiti, by Belle and Sebastian - a song that was introduced to me by
My ‘BITCH PLZ’ icon! I love the colors in this one and Helga’s face kills me. Plus, it’s a THANKSGIVING icon! Also, just because Helga thinks Arnold is the best doesn’t mean that he can’t be wrong sometimes.
Tokka! This part of the finale KILLED me. Toph and Sokka were totally where my heart was for the last episodes. They’re BFFs! And neither of them would ever let anything happen to the other. Also, TOPH CRIES after this and it broke my damn heart and gosh, they are cute together.
Lyrics from Round Here again. Nor is not the strongest or the bravest or the smartest even. But she tries very hard to do what’s right. The icon art comes from here. I actually think that picture is ugly, but I think the icon is still pretty.
CRACK! But seriously, Goofy/Pete is basically canon anyway, right? That was one of the saddest things about Kingdom Hearts, they didn’t really acknowledge Pete and Goofy’s pseudo-friendship.

Date: 2009-09-04 10:20 pm (UTC)To be honest, I really don't like villains. I don't really play around with the 'evil is sexy/cool' thing that a lot of people go for. I like heroes. I relate easiest to heroes. Villains are just... whatever.

Date: 2009-09-05 04:48 am (UTC)I had to take a moment and reread this to make sure I read it right, because BARRET/TIFA, FUCK YEAH. <33 I fell in love with them after I beat the game a few months ago. I love that he adores her and doesn't do a good job at hiding it at all. And I always wanted to see their history explored before Cloud showed up and joined Avalanche. I'm kinda sad the ship barely has any fandom; I looked up fanart and fanfiction, and seriously, there's ... a handful of fanfics on FF.Net, and no fanart.
I agree with everything you've said about The Fox and the Hound. It's totally one of my favorite Disney movies, even though it makes me cry every time I watch it. :(
ICONS!

Date: 2009-09-05 02:13 pm (UTC)But yeah, no one ships it, because they're still too busy squabbling over Aerith/Cloud/Tifa. Also, I don't mind Cloud/Tifa, but my heart totally breaks for Tifa, because Cloud is such a basket case sometimes and it's just like the keywords to that Tifa icon "(Johnny) you're like a mother to the girl you've fallen for". She shouldn't have to always take care of him. :(
I haven't watched The Fox and the Hound in awhile, but I really love that movie (and it reminds me of my sister a lot... I think it might have been her fave for awhile? So, warm associations and all that). It is REALLY SAD though.

Date: 2009-09-05 05:23 pm (UTC)I kinda love Cloud/Tifa a lot, which is strange because I usually don't go for the 'childhood pals' ships, but I felt bad for her in Advent Children because Cloud kept disappearing on her (and pining after Aerith and feeling guilty about her death). She always seems to be taking care of him and waiting for him to come back, but what if he doesn't someday? (Admittedly, it's why I started shipping Barret/Tifa/Cloud, because I COULD NOT MAKE UP MY MIND.)
It is! The ending always did it for me, with Todd watching from afar. :(

Date: 2009-09-05 06:04 pm (UTC)Haha, I don't really like Cloud/Tifa, which is strange because I DO usually go for the 'childhood pals' ships. And I don't ship it for a lot of the reasons that you do ship it for. I've got this huge soft spot for Tifa (that always surprises me, because I really didn't care about her awhile ago) and it kills me that she's pining for this boy who isn't really there. And I would like for her to find someone real and tangible and not obsessing over a dead girl, which is also strange because I ship Yuffie/Squall SO HARD and talk about obsessing over a (maybe) dead girl.

Hah, I get what you're saying. I don't ship Yuffie/Squall as hard, but I like that aspect of their relationship too. I can't imagine Squall pining after his dead girlfriend the same way as Cloud obviously obsesses over Aerith. And Yuffie... while I'm sure she's curious about Squall's dead girlfriend, I don't think she'll ever have the same patience for Squall that Tifa has for Cloud.
I think I still love Cloud/Tifa because I always liked them since I was ten years old. And then I watched Advent Children and their situation was SO DEPRESSING. It didn't kill my interest in the ship so much as it killed the fannish hope that they'd actually make it. (Which is weird, because how can you like a ship but not expect them to make it?) I felt bad for Cloud, too. He does love Tifa in his own way and she definitely loves him, but he isn't ready to let go of the past, tell himself that Aerith is dead and it's okay to move on with his life. I just want to give both of them a hug. :/
