I sent them down to the beach, because I am cliche like that. Also, I wanted to have big open backgrounds. Also also, I want to go the beach for reals, so I'm projecting.
Okay, I love that they tangle their fingers up in one another's hair. And I love Morty's content/sad face here. IT'S LIKE HE KNOWS SHE'S GOING TO JUST DISAPPEAR ONE DAY. D:
"Hey, Bella? You aren't ever going to just up and disappear on me one day are you? You're kind of my best friend and also your hair is the shiniest and I would miss you very, very much."
"Don't be stupid, Mortimer. Where would I even go? Strangetown? Haha, yeah right."
"I just... sometimes I get this weird feeling that I have no control over anything, you know? Like there's someone out there, watching me and leading me and I just don't want to lose you."
"Mortimer."
"I'm not going anywhere."
"And if one day, I have to leave -"
"- I'll take you with me."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Um, Mortimer?"
"Yeah?"
Mortimer froze as Bella stepped closer to him, swinging her arms upwards to wrap around his chest. She leaned forward, her face was now only inches from his own. Bella's breath was warm against his lips, her fingers tugging at the back of his shirt sent chills up his spine and he knew then that nothing would be the same after this.
Since the invention of the kiss there have been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure.
This was not one of those kisses. It wasn't passionate; just quiet and searching and new. It wasn't pure; Mortimer's breath reeked of the fish tacos he'd had for lunch that afternoon and Bella had already had her first kiss years ago on the playground with Malcolm Landgraab.
So no, it didn't leave them all behind. This was not the be all, end all kiss. It was just a beginning. A tiny dab of hope and love between two maybe-more-than best friends.
But it was enough.
Bella pulled away first. She bit at her lip as she stepped back and told Mortimer Goth, her very best friend in the whole world, what she had been trying to say for ten years.
"I love you."
And that's how everything changed.
a/n: Lol, this turned out much more sappy and full of story-ness than I had expected it too.
I have a weird sort of storyline in my head for the Goths. I mean, most of it follows the canon, but it also throws Kaylynn into the mix and how she relates to Bella and Mortimer and how eventually Mortimer pays her in Elixir of Life if she'll just stay out of their lives (because it's killing Bella, just a bit). And the whole storyline would end with Bella returning to PV with her memories fixed up and ready to find Mortimer and explain, but by that point Cassandra is gone and Dina's living her house and Alexander is nowhere to be found.
And Mortimer is maybe/probably dead dead dead and (AN ETERNALLY YOUNG) Kaylynn is hanging by his grave and she and Bella talk and it's HORRIBLY DEPRESSING, because I apparently love to fuck with my OTPs....
PS That last line BUGS me, but I can't think of anything to replace it with. HALP.
