If anyone would like to give me a fandom that you'd like me to share three of my unpopular (or "likely to piss off someone somewhere") opinions about, feel free to comment.
I like this meme because I get to be bitchy! Maybe!
I made a Tauren Hunter today on WoW and THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY. I don't even have a pet yet and I'm totes digging having such an awesome range to fight. Also, if Calvin (from Ternion) played WoW he'd totally be a female Tauren Hunter and he'd be AWESOME. AWESOME LIKE ME.
Still undecided about whether to keep playing or not. Tomorrow's the last day of my trial. :\
I hate that only Blood Elves can be Paladins on the Horde side. I was basically born to be a Paladin. Defense/Healing? Yeah. That's me. ALL THE WAY. But you have to pay moooore for Blood Elves and they are not the race I'd want to be anyway. Whatever.
The undead are my favorites, but I don't really mesh with the classes that they have under them. I love my Undead Warrior chick, but the Warrior class doesn't completely appeal to me? I do like being able to take a beating though. And when you're Undead you get to EAT CORPSES. It's awesome.
Um, sorry for being so boring and talking 'bout WoW. I will move on from this game soon enough (especially if I cheap out and don't buy it.....).
Anyway, GIMME FANDOMS SO I CAN TELL YOU WHAT I THINK ABOUT THEM.

Date: 2009-06-25 12:36 am (UTC)Let's go with the Sims canon plotline, since you're talking about the fandom below :).
(And if you can include stuff about SHWC, that'd be neat too).
Better late than never?
Date: 2009-07-08 12:11 am (UTC)2) Bella did not cheat on Mortimer, but she wasn't completely naive when she went to Don's. I think she knew on some level that he was interested in her and at that point in her life she just felt trapped and was wondering if she had ever loved Mortimer at all. When Don tried to kiss her, it made her wake up in a sense. She DID love Mortimer and only Mortimer, but she also still wanted out in a lot of ways. Life got away from her.
3) Kaylynn and Bella are not witches. The answer lies in Mortimer's Elixir of Life and the reason Kaylynn does not know Bella and Morty in TS2 is because Mortimer promised to keep her young forever if she stayed out of their lives.
SHWC1) Ophelia is awesome. STFU haters. There wouldn't be a story without her and hating her because she gets in the way of the slash is missing the point of what Strange is doing. She's writing a love story between three people and how that fucks things up and makes them better at the same time. And Phi is the physical crux of that relationship and ALWAYS WILL BE.
Seriously, Ripp and Johnny REALLY LIKE VAGINAS.
SHWC2) I don't really ship Tank/Lucy. It's cute and I like that Tank has maybe found someone, but I also kind of want Tank to die at some point (not that I don't love him), but I'd like to see him redeem himself and his father somehow. Plus I would cry a lot and sometimes I need that.
SHWC3) JRO is the story. Seriously. Shut up about how Strange needs to focus on other things. They are the emotional centerpiece. This is THEIR story and how it is connected to other smaller stories. It is the A plot. AND IT IS AWESOME.
Late >>> Never
Date: 2009-07-08 02:34 am (UTC)Interesting opinions. Let's see...
1. I think the sparse hints from the game pretty much portray them as evil gold-diggers, especially Dina. My interpretation is that they are behind Bella's abduction (since they are part alien), as they tried to get rid of her to have access to the Goth fortune. Don is also part of the plot, and he's also marrying Cassandra to keep her from suspecting anything. I guess the "natural" story progress would be to have Alexander uncover the ploy (or maybe Cassandra, if Don leaves her at the altar) and stop the marriage between Dina and Mortimer.
That said, the best thing about playing the Sims games is that you can pretty much alter the canon however you like. I haven't played with Nina that much (so I don't know if she's interested in anyone besides Don), but from my experience with Dina, she seemed to love Mortimer very much. She also cared about Alexander and was good friends with Cassandra (who never married Don, BTW). In a way, she became the mother figure they all lost when Bella was abducted. The money was another (very important) advantage of their marriage.
2. I never got the vibe that Bella cheated on Mortimer. I think she went that night to Don's place to talk about his relationship with Cassandra. Don is probably much older than Cass, so Bella was probably concerned. Don put on the moves on her too, because that's how Don works, and Bella maybe was tempted.
I think Bella felt trapped at times in her marriage. Maybe she wanted adventures far from Pleasantview? She is a brave person, after all :).
3. Right, he's a mad scientist! I love the witches theory and in my mind, Kaylynn manipulated Nina, Dina and Don with her evil magic powers to get her revenge on Bella. It is a long story, and I think I'm going to type it as a fanfic before I forget about it :).
As for SHWC, I've always liked Ophelia. She's the voice of reason in their group and in many ways the "glue" that keeps them together despite the problems that often arise between Ripp and Johnny. I really like how their relationship is developed in the story. It's not perfect, but it's sweet, supporting and motivates them to become better persons too.
I am a Lucy/Tank shipper. Well, I am a Tank fangirl in general (I think he's the best looking Grunt, hands down), so I'm biased :P.
I like that the story is focused on JRO. The extra characters and plots are nice touch, but I think that if strange_tomato tried to focus on all of them at the same time, it'd get too overwhelming to manage. I'm often impressed by how she's managed to connect so many storylines and make every single character memorable :).
Re: Late >>> Never
Date: 2009-07-08 02:56 am (UTC)2) If I remember the memories correctly (I could be totes off base, I looked them up and wrote down a lot of it months ago when I wrote that Don-centric fic, but don't have any remaining records of them), Don didn't meet Cassandra until after the whole thing with Bella? So I always sort of got the feeling that Bella went over there in this state where she just didn't know what she wanted, but sort of realized that it wasn't Don while she was there. But then something happened and she disappeared forever.
I agree that I think Bella eventually comes to realize that she's at a point in her life where she just doesn't like what she's become. I imagine Mortimer was gone a lot and she was raising the kids alone and she kind of resented them all a little bit.
3) I dig the witches story, but it's not my own pet theory. But that's me loving really tragic, messed up love triangles/threesomes. My whole theory is more that Bella, Mortimer and Kaylynn were in something of a JRO situation, except that Bella sort of resented Kaylynn and Mortimer loved Bella best and so it was unbalanced and would never work. But Kaylynn fights for the both of them for years until Mortimer basically tells her that he never wants to see her again. But he does care about her (and so does Bella in her own way) so he arranges for her to receive EoL in exchange for disappearing forever from their lives.
And she does stay out of their lives. At least until Bella disappears. Then she goes back to see Mortimer and tries to get him to take her back, in a way. She wants to belong with him now that Bella isn't there to get upset about it. They spend the night together and in the morning he asks her to leave and never come back. So she goes away again and doesn't return.
Eventually Bella will find Kaylynn in the graveyard laying flowers on Mortimer's grave. Bella will be aging by that point, while Kaylynn is still forever young.
SHWC1) Phi was actually my favorite before Johnny stole my love away forever. It makes me sad that not a lot of people seem to get her as a character.
SHWC2) Haha, that is also where I differ from the norm. I don't think Tank is that attractive and I don't like him nearly as much as I used to.
Re: Late >>> Never
Date: 2009-07-08 12:00 pm (UTC)From a more objective point of view, I like to think that Tank is more of a rugged, masculine "handsome" (as opposed to Ripp's boyish and "pretty" features) and he looks awkward and even sort of ugly when he's younger, but gets better with age. Even then, not many would remark on his beauty. His body, however... :P
In contrast, Ripp seems less "right" with age, with his big features growing bigger and more out of place (especially as he "goes to seed" and grows pudgier and hairier). He almost becomes a caricature of himself, and sort of like an overgrown boy.
(God, I think about this WAY too much. XD)
