Okay so just another post about the LJ crosspost junk.

I'd prefer that you never ever crosspost comments you make on my journal to your FB/twitter because... why would you? I especially do not want to hear of anyone ever crossposting a comment they make on one of my locked journal entries to another site because I can promise that person will be swiftly removed from my friends list. Permanently.

I also promise to never do that to anyone on LJ. The crosspost buttons are being firmly ignored by me. I have no interest in betraying anyone's trust here. The stupid shit we talk about stays between us.

My guess is that most, if not all of you are feeling the same way about this new change so it's a bit of a moot point, but I still just wanted to make it crystal clear that my journal doesn't belong on your facebook in any way, shape or form. And I also wanted to reassure everyone that I will NEVER crosspost their stuff.

I completely and utterly feel your rage. WTF LJ?!

I don't completely hate it, because I'm sure there are people who would enjoy being able to crosspost their own shit now and then, but there definitely needs to be an opt out and I should somehow be the one in control of whether a person can crosspost comments they make in my posts.

Idk, right now the system is very flawed, but there's like 90+ pages of complaints on their news page so HOPEFULLY they're listening.

Sure, the option to cross-post your OWN entries is fine and all, but to cross-post your comments on someone ELSE'S entry is not cool at all.

If anyone at LJ has a brain, then this will probably be fixed within the next few days.

EDIT: Sounds like LJ will be paying attention to the results of this poll, so I recommend voting: http://community.livejournal.com/thequestionclub/86168785.html

Thanks for the poll link. Glad to see they're paying attention/trying to do something.

I'm just ignoring the new option altogether. Not only is my Facebook completely separate from anything I do on Livejournal, I barely use my Facebook to begin with and I have little to no interest in using it. Sharing entries on Twitter is fine, but most of my followers are on LJ to begin with so what's the point?

Also, I completely agree with you. People should be able to control whether or not people can cross-post the comments they leave on their blogs. Privacy is a wonderful thing, kthx.

I don't have a twitter (well... i do, but it's just to follow community twitters and i hardly ever check it) and I do my damnedest to separate FB and LJ so basically I'm just completely ignoring the options. As it is now I CAN'T click the FB/Twitter buttons (I think you have to register them first) and that's how I plan to leave them.

I'm not completely up in arms about comments on public entries - I mean... they're public so it's not some huge secret. I think it's weird that someone would WANT to share my public LJ with all their RL facebook friends, but whatever. However, private comments from locked posts? Not cool AT ALL.

I'm going to copy and paste this on my LJ, because this is pretty much how I feel.

It sounds like they are looking to fix things so I'm not too upset yet, but they really do need some sort of opt-out or at the very least they need to fix the thing where comments on locked entries can be x-posted. That's... just so stupid.
