Would anyone be interested in a Scooby Doo Community specifically for the new series? I watched episode 4 earlier today and it was amazing and I'm just so in love with everything this series chooses to be.

I wouldn't be adverse to allowing discussion on other Scooby series (there's another live action movie for the CN coming up, I think and the last one was pretty cute), but I know that I personally am mostly interested in the latest series (though I admit to now being mondo curious about all the others but GODDAMN that's a lot of canon to sift through).

ANYWAY. Thoughts?

This could end up a massive project, lol. I'd say go for it, if you really want to.

I hope not! I don't want an overly complicated community. Just a place to gush about the new series mostly. There is already a Scooby-Doo comm, but it's layout is ugly and it's maintainer is no longer on LJ which sort of makes me all :\

IDK.

I guess that means you could shift the crowd at that community over to your new one if you make one.

I'd certainly be interested :)

Excellent! I know there are a good handful of people on my flist who are digging the new series quite a bit so it'd be nice to have a place for people to gather and really chat/squee about it! :D

ANSWER: YYYYYYYYYY

I'm holding off on watching the third and fourth episodes until tomorrow, and thennnn, Monday! New episode, right? I'm dogsitting for my neighbors and they actually get Cartoon Network, so assuming I can figure out how their tv works, I WILL WATCH IT LIVE.

I love all the episodes so far! I have nitpicky things that bother me about the new series, but the love for it completely overwhelms those things! And Scooby-Doo has never really been my thing so I am all out of sorts and in need of some sort of place to talk about my ~feelings~ but I have nowhere to go!

I think the fourth episode is my favorite one so far because it's the first time we get to see Fred maybe feeling some things for Daphne and the girls have a few cute bonding moments and the beach. The third is also good, but there's a lot of car chasing scenes and i have a limited attention span for that sort of thing. XD

I would be SO for this!
Loooove this series so much. The beach episode was awesome (I loved OMG NO DAPHNE WAT IS MY LIFE Fred and "Ri have ro ridea rwhat you're talking about." haha)

Yay! I loved the beach episode. Fred losing his shit because he lost Daphne was so excellent. And his line that's like: "Don't worry, I'll never have feelings again! :D" cracked me up. And that Scooby line was also hilarious.

BASICALLY THIS SHOW IS REALLY FUNNY AND CHARMING AND I LOVE IT AND NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT MOOOORE.

Hahah yes. AND HIM TRYING TO DIG THROUGH THE GROUND. hahaha perfection, the gags/humor on this show is amazing. (The teacher line in the first episode in pretty much the funniest thing ever, ahhaha)
Haha I like how Daphne didn't even D: at that, like she was so ecstatic that he cared that nothing else mattered.

IT REALLY IS OMG.

HE KEPT TRYING TO DIG INTO THE GROUND EVEN WHEN IN THE MYSTERY MACHINE. RIPPED UP THE DAMN CARPET.

I also loved him being like: "WHAT DO WE EVEN DO NOW?" and Velma's all: "Well... you usually make up the plans." and he's like: "OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?!"

You loved Daphne, Fred. And you aren't you without her! <33333333

I also loved Daphne's smug response when he was all like: "NO FEELINGS EVER." She's all: "Psssh, we'll see about that." FRED JONES YOU WILL LOVE DAPHNE BLAKE. THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE.

Mostly I just loved that we got to see the Freddy probably DOES like Daphne, but that he suppresses it to the point where he seems unaware of it. And that he does it because he's worried about ruining their friendship which is something he highly values. Also, I get the feeling that he has no idea that she likes him like that. XD

I would be! I'm loving the new series so far. But no one I know watches it... or wants to...
D: Scooby Doo has such a bad rep, but this new series has plot! Parents! Interesting personalities! Reminds me of "A Pup Named Scooby Doo" which was also adorable and awesome.

So yes. I would join this community.

Yeah, I actually know a few people who are watching it too and I just think it would be cool to have some sort of place we could all go to chat about how much fun the series is!

I have never hated Scooby Doo and I used to watch it now and again, but I have a hard time with monster-of-the-day type shows - especially in cartoons because generally that means any development between characters is always going to be completely reset at the end of the episode. For some reason I feel like this show might actually grow into something close to a linear storyline. Or like, the individuals eps may reset some things, but there is a somewhat linear mystery going on with Mister E.

I also love that they have parents. And character development. And that Shaggy/Velma are an already established couple and now the show is just having fun playing around with what it is to be two teens who are secretly dating. They need to kiss like yesterday though.

Yea, I mean when I was a kid I watched Scooby Doo all the time. And I still have a certain nostalgic fondness for it.

But, Ooh, oof, that "Mister E" thing really kills me. It's sooo damn... cheesy. The first time he said his name my reaction was "Ouch!" Wish they could've come up with a better name... but maybe kids these days will think it's cool? Idk.

Duuuudde. I feel so bad for Velma. Whenever Shaggy refuses to do anything with her because of Scooby I think, "cockblocked!" Cause she totally wants to jump his bones..., like yesterday. And honestly, Scooby's kinda useless in this series. I kinda wish they'd made him this non-talking dog that just happens to have a big appetite and can sniff off clues now and then. The whole talking thing seems pretty unnecessary and annoying.

I actually like the "Mister E" thing and the how sort of cheesy and juvenile the mysteries are. Then again I'm really big on lame puns.

I actually prefer how this series handles Scooby and Shaggy. I understand their place in the gang, but I always hated how in the older series it was so formulaic in that you could always rely on Scooby and Shaggy's blundering to come in really handy at the end of the episode. I'd like to see more mix up of interactions in this series though. Like, I'd love to see Shaggy and Daphne have some screen time together.

This is relevant to my interests. And reminds me that I ought to watch some more.

Definitely watch some more. Someone told me that the eps are all up on youtube so no excuses! XD

Sounds awesome.

But we seriously need to get TheShayLoft back on its feet.

To be completely honest I am thinking about maybe stepping down from modship at theshayloft or something. IDK. I'm pretty much completely disinterested in iCarly at this point in time and I don't really see that changing. I haven't seen any of the new eps from like.... iPsycho on and I'm just... not into the show anymore.

I don't have any motivation to make discussion posts for the comm and half the time I'm not aware of new eps/news/etc anyway. I'm cool with doing some more secondhand modding (just being a mod for if something gets out of hand) for a bit, but I'm really not the person who is going to be able to whip the comm into shape right now.

I'm up for discussing plans to get things moving again and helping out where I can, but I don't have the motivation to take on anywhere the amount of control I originally had.

I completely understand! I'm relieved to finally have some idea of where to go from here. If secondhand modding is all you can/want to do now, that's totally reasonable and cool.

But yeah, you, me, and fbnk_luv should definitely discuss the future of theshayloft soon, see what each of us can do, and take things from there.

And best of luck with the Scooby Doo comm! After I finally get around to watching it, I'll join!
