I also still can't get totally behind Jeff/Annie as a serious relationship because of the mental/emotional/physical age gap. It's not just that he's like 15+ years older than her. It's that he is at a point in his life where he seems to be wanting to settle down and Annie's just beginning to really find out what she wants out of life. It can be cute for awhile, but they're going to come down to earth sooner or later.

I am hoping that having Jeff/Annie happen now means that the show will be able to move past it soon enough. I'd really love to have a Jeff sort of lose his mojo for a bit and not be the center of all the romantic flow.
