Journal - "Haters to the Left."

This episode of Community was amazing and I loved it and fuck your ships they're all awesome.

The discussion over at the main comm is bugging me because so much of it just reads like straight up shipper wank and while I understand what it's like to be a shipper and be super serious about your ship, I mostly just... do not even give a shit. I love Troy/Britta, but this ep was fantastic and Jeff/Britta making out beside Abed was perfect and Troy's friendship with Annie made me melt and Shirley and Pierce and SOME DUDE WAS HITTING ON ABED and just. UGH.

If you're looking to wank about this episode, don't do it here. LOOK HOW MUCH I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR SHIPPING PREFERENCES.

AS A SIDE NOTE: Just because you think Jeff/Britta act like siblings or don't have chemistry doesn't mean you're correct. It is your opinion and probably not universal and it's important to note that obviously they have something between them and very much don't see one another in a familial way and Jeff/Britta making out beside Abed is amazing because they are the original trio and the root of the show and BLAH BLAH BLAH WHATEVER. IDEK.

Basically. I love this episode. Haters to the left.

hey, i hope you don't mind that i added you as a friend- not sure if you saw my comment in your friends-only post :)

anyways YES I AGREE ABOUT THIS EPISODE. IT HAD ALL MY PRIMARY SHIPS PLUS SOME CUTENESS (like Pierce being nice to Shirley). AND I LOVED TROY! AND BRITTA! AND ANNIE! AND ABED!

this was probably one of my favorite Community episodes ever.

Wow, dude, spoilers? I haven't watched the episode yet.

Heyyy, I added you, is that okay? I totally stalked this post from our discussion at the comm, and I just feel totally the same thing that you do, and I thought THIS COULD BE THE BEGINNING OF A BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP, or something less cheesy.

Also, SO MUCH WORD to your side note, that sort of thing bothers me so much. It's like every shipper assumes that because Jeff and Annie have ~chemistry that they're meant to be together, instead of J & B. Well, guess what, nobody is meant to be together, all these characters could be with each other but they'd all have to work at it because they can't count on magic ~chemistry and ahh. I SHIP AND I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR.

HI I'VE WATCHED NOW, AND I AGREE WITH YOUR THOUGHTS!

I... I was bored by this episode :(

You know I don't really care about ships (I actually think the high of the episode was Jeff and Britta making out... as in... the SHOCK thing).

But... This episode... I didn't like it... I don't feel like it was complete... to me this was like the draft of something that could have been brilliant, but ended up just being like an exposition of facts that will help shippers in their fanfiction.

I don't hate it, I just think it's not memorable...

LOLOL. ILU RITE NOW, JS. I already responded to you in the comm but I want to spam you more so here I go.
I didn't comment before, but after rewatching the ep, my heart really broke for Abed. He is so LONELY and I think we've been given hints before but this is the most explicit moment we've seen of that. I just really want all these people be okay. Seeing so much depressing stuff about these people and how they struggle in their lives was sad but I think also important cause it was the show's way of reminding us of their imperfections and how they are misfits in alot of ways. Britta and Jeff can never be honest about themselves. Annie struggles to be herself because she's still confused about WHO she is. Abed likes being himself but is often misunderstood and ignored. Troy bless, he seems the most content with himself and his life so far. I'd say his only real issue is how naive he can be sometimes but I think he's getting over that too. Pierce with is inability to accept he's aging and needs help also made me sad, I'm glad Shirley helped him and yes Shirley he IS a jackass. but a sad one. so much sad in this episode, I hope this is set up for a triumphant moment for these crazy kids before the finale!

"Do you want to have gay sex with me?"

That was the best thing to ever happen on TV.

EVER

I thought the episode had it's high points, the Troy/Annie scene and Abed's little plot. Overall, I didn't think it was a bad episode or hate it, but it was meh for me.

Jeff and Britta really annoyed me. Not Jeff/Britta as a ship, but them as characters. The makeout didn't bother me at all and I don't know why people are having meltdowns over it. It was such a small part of the overall episode and considering we got basically an entire freakin' episode of Jeff and Annie, people should chill.

To be fair, though, there was plenty of wank (possibly even more than this week) over Jeff/Annie in the discussion thread last week as well. The wank from all sides is creeping into every discussion thread, which is why I rarely read them anymore. I find that not reading the discussion post until maybe a week later helps me stay happy.
